Biography

J. Adami is an emerging film and stage actor based in Maryland and Atlanta.  She made her film debut in The Good Lord Bird as The Gardener with Joshua Caleb Johnson, directed by Ethan Hawke and Haifaa Al-mansour. Her supporting film and television roles include: Netflix’s House of Cards as a Department of Justice Lawyer together with Elizabeth Marvel, directed by Robin Wright. Snowden with Joseph Gordon Levitt, directed by Oliver Stone; VEEP (season 4, episode 6) with Julia Louis Dreyfus directed by Armando Lannucci; Henrietta Lacks Story with Oprah Winfrey directed by George C. Wolfe; Billions with Paul Giamatti Directed by Anna Boden, Parks and Recreation (season 7) with Amy Poehler directed by Dean Holland.  She also did stand-in work for Kerry Washington, Cicely Tyson (also as her reader), Lisa Gay-Hamilton, Amanda Warren, and Renée Elise Goldsberry.

Theatre credits include: Kennedy Center Honors (2016 & 2017); Elizabeth in Virgil’s Law at the DC Black Theatre Festival; Dee-Dee in a reading of Strange Weather and For Colored Girls…at the University of Baltimore; Decoding Silence at Run of the Mill Theatre; and a reading of Clipping Toe Nails directed by the late Paul Berman.

J. trained with international Meisner master teachers Kathryn Gately and Richard Poole at Gately/Poole Conservatory in Chicago, and the Artists at Yale Summer Conservatory in CT and the Michael Howard Studio in NY; she also studied with Delaney Williams and the late nationally renowned private coach Paul Berman in the Maryland area.

She graduated magna cum laude from Johns Hopkins University with an M.S. in Organization Behavior and a B.S. in Social Science Liberal Arts. She also has an AA in Interpreting for the Deaf from Catonsville Community College, as well as an AA in Culinary Arts from Hospitality Culinary Arts and Tourism.

J. is a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do, a boxer, weight lifter, and loves to dance and read. She facilitates communication as a sign-language interpreter at her Church. She loves to cook and entertain for family and friends, and enjoys chilling and spending time with her husband.
